The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) announced their new CEO hire on The BBQ Central Show.

The BBQ news was announced by the Kansas City Barbeque Society on a special Thursday edition of The BBQ Central Show, the longest-running BBQ show that’s also a podcast which publishes multiple times a week.

About the New KCBS CEO
Emily Detwiler is a business and marketing professional with over 15 years of experience in strategy development, branding, integrated marketing planning, partnership development, agency leadership, operating plan and budget development.
Emily Detwiler has worked with Smithfield, Hostess, Borden, Plugra and Retailers including Walmart, Sam’s Club, Ahold Delhaize, Meijer, Hy-Vee, etc, according to the KCBS.

Emily holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Management from Drake University, as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Missouri; where she has served on the MBA Advisory Board for +10 years.
Emily was instrumental in developing and leading Smithfield’s experiential programs; with emphasis on driving awareness and engagement among NASCAR and BBQ fans for grilling.
Emily’s leadership and creativity, combined with key relationships developed across the sport of barbecue, led to the development of pitmaster ambassadors, key contest sponsorships, and a cooks program
Emily’s innovative and entrepreneurial mindset also led to the development of a Grant program to deepen the prize pools, and a unified National Championship program across sanctioning bodies. The programs that Emily developed have been key to drawing attention and investment in the sport from other leading brands.

The annual Turf & Surf BBQ State Championship is sanctioned by The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) and takes place Sunday, Aug. 18 in Del Mar, California.
Top professional BBQ teams will compete in Del Mar at the Turf and Surf competition for more than $15,000 in cash prizes and sample their tastiest slow-smoked meats in hopes of winning the coveted People’s Choice award.
All-You-Can-Eat Championship BBQ, Seafood & Dessert samples are included and also 5 beer or non-alcoholic beverage tickets.
